Consumer Credit Counseling Services Southwest Announces Merger with Money Management International
 
  Consumer Credit Counseling Services Southwest (CCCS Southwest), the region’s largest and oldest credit counseling agency, announced today the completion of its merger with Houston-based Money Management International (MMI). The new nonprofit credit counseling organization will rank as the largest member of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) with more than 400 employees and nearly 70,000 clients nationwide.

CCCS, A Division of Money Management International also announced today that Ivan Hand, current MMI president and a former senior vice president of Exxon Corp., will lead the combined organization as president and CEO. John Erickson, CCCS, A Division of Money Management International president for the past 18 years, will lead product and business development.

The collaboration brings CCCS, A Division of Money Management International’s strong history and counseling expertise together with MMI’s advanced technology and national presence.

“This merger represents a giant step toward our goal of effectively and efficiently assisting consumers nationwide,” said Erickson. “We believe our expertise combined with MMI’s technological advancements make us the industry leader.”

The combined organization will operate locally under the CCCS name and nationally under the name MMI. Current CCCS, A Division of Money Management International clients can continue to expect CCCS, A Division of Money Management International’s exceptional level of service with no interruptions. The Phoenix call center expects to add 20 counseling positions within the next six months.

Founded in 1958, CCCS, A Division of Money Management International is a Phoenix-based nonprofit credit counseling organization. In 2000, CCCS, A Division of Money Management International clients returned more than $85 million in outstanding debt through debt repayment programs initiated by CCCS, A Division of Money Management International on the client’s behalf. In addition, CCCS, A Division of Money Management International operates an award-winning education program dedicated to helping people learn how to practice smart consumerism.
